Meanderthal
Welcome to Meanderthal, where wandering is celebrated, the more thick-skulled the adventure, the better.
I’m Mel, a multiracial mutt with globe-trotting tendencies and a curated naiveté to the wonders of this world. Please take a peek if you’re curious about one of the locations I’ve written about. Some are more thoughtful, and others are downright goofy.
I try not to take this blog too seriously; Meanderthal is a space for me to just write. To try and put into words the mesh of colors and feelings and soul-feeding that travel can be.
Let's wander together. And hopefully on the way, discover some new things, wonderful people, and heaps of memories. At the very least, we will get lost. And that will always be one of my favorite places to be.
Riga, Latvia: the return of solo travel
Visiting Riga, Latvia was my first solo trip in quite some time, and I will admit I was just a tad bit hesitant when I first set out for the airport. In terms of travel style, I definitely fall more into the go-with-the-flow category, so naturally, I didn’t have much planned. And that is the perfect recipe for an adventure.
Freelance freedom or finicky fluctuation?
Digital nomad, freelancer, location-flexible, self-employed, independent, contractor, a little deluded… There are many possible labels that come with a less traditional work style.
A new beginning
Whether you’re about to type, draw, or create, all that white space can be a pretty intimidating beast to stare down. But it’s also so very, very exciting. That’s the kind of energy I’m carrying between my ears right about now: a good ol’ mix of trepidation, caffeine-riddled excitement, and pure awe that somehow, I get to hold the reins on my own.
